INFO: In connection to this, I questioned earlier whether the U.S. is lead by (a) it’s people (the Americans = democracy), (b) the policymakers (= oligarchy) or (c) the U.S. Army (= military dictatorship). Here’s the answer to that. Enjoy!

INFO: Japan has some 800 men over there. Also, the Australian mission (with 1370 men) is basically to protect them, so this deserves to be mentioned here.
NOTE: I’m counting all the personnel together, so figures given by me are bit higher than those given separately by www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_orbat_coalition.htm.

QUOTE: ‘President Bush said Tuesday that "it would be a terrible mistake" to pull U.S. forces out of Iraq and that politics should not play any part in a decision about withdrawal. (...) The argument against withdrawal was echoed in Washington by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who said quitting the war would allow insurgents to prevail and put the United States "at still greater risk."’

QUOTE: “Villepin, interviewed in Paris by CNN, said a badly planned withdrawal could cause chaos in Iraq, "which of course would be disastrous for the whole region."”
