INFO: My point is that U.S. had great hopes in helicopters in Vietnam, much with the same idea. It does not work, since controlling the air only makes more distance to the ground. Do not worry, this is only a setback, straight to the pre-war starting point. The international pressure will end this soon after.

QUOTE: The increased use of Joint Direct Attack Munitions against the Iraqi insurgency is creating a shortage of such precision-guided weaponry for the U.S. military.
INFO: Revealing, and might partially explain the transition from ground to air...

INFO: If air strikes are called in without U.S. ground forces there the funny problem of the credibility of the callers of the strike and the issues of the targets involved, loyalties of the callers and so on. Basically, why wouldn’t some Iraqi call a strike to his personal enemies or alike? Oh yes they would. The air strike plan is insanity of which the U.S. Air Force would get highly questionable credit. I wonder whether they really are ready for that, if things really draw close to it? Would you shoot eyes closed around on instructions of somebody you can’t necessarily trust? I think this is enough of the New Iraqi Army supported by U.S. Air Force plan :)

...bomb civilians. Nothing has changed since the Vietnam war, only that the former Sowjet Union could not allow the defeat of their Vietnam allies. We need more simple Russian rocket technology to blow this brutal American airforce out of the sky.

QUOTE: "Will the Iraqis call in air strikes in order to snuff rivals, or other warlords, or to snuff members of your own sect and blame it on someone else?" a senior military planner told the magazine. "Will some Iraqis be targeting on behalf of al-Qaeda, or the insurgency, or the Iranians?"
