Let's see: 15,000 well equipped and trained troops backed by air support attack a mottled bunch of poorly armed Taliban totaling 400 - according to the attackers - and 7 days later have barely progressed while taking substantial casualties...
However, it gets much worse....
Now, we're told that it will take an additional 30 days to complete the invasion of Marjah, plus another 3 months to make it completely secure from Taliban elements...
QUOTE:
"U.S.-led forces will need about 25 to 30 days to secure the Marjah area of Afghanistan as they face "stiff resistance" from Taliban insurgents to an allied assault, a British general said Thursday."
The discrepancy between forces here is far higher than the 200 Texans defending Fort Alamo against 1,500 Mexicans and suffering defeat in less than 2 weeks...
No matter what happens later at Marjah, it's clear that the invaders will think twice before repeating the same mistake and one can safely says that the Taliban is the VICTOR at Marjah...

saying that from that 400, 200 were killed or ran away on the first day and that they were in control of 90% of the area after day 1.
So using their own figures, they haven't been able to defeat less than 200 Taliban occupying less than 10% of the region with 15,000 in almost a week, with all the air, armored and artillery support they can muster.
What a bunch of fucking useless cowardly turds! Why the fuck didn't Gorbachev invade the west in 1989? The Soviets would have defeated NATO in a week!

How many troops will the invaders have to station permanently in Marjah to prevent the Resistence from filtering back?
Minimum 4000. Maximun 20,000.
The Minutemen of 1776 understood that capturing territory meant nothing in a guerrilla war.
It shows what the Pharisees' booze, drugs and pornography has done to the American mind.

The timing cannot be discarded, recently the Taliban were paid off by various governments around the world.
They wouldn't use this many troops if they weren't sure they'd have safe passage. Note the british using new explosive weapons to build instant highways on mountains.

No country, no matter how powerful, has ever succeeded in conquering and staying in Afghanistan, so I can't see why the fiercely nationalistic Taliban could be bought to allow foreigners to remain in their country...
News clearly indicate a strong resistance that is even increasing in Marjah...
QUOTE from CNN:
"Foreign and Afghan forces encountered stiff resistance Saturday as their offensive in southern Afghanistan entered its second week, and a civilian was mistakenly shot dead.
"It is moving slowly but surely. The Marines are making some headway," said CNN correspondent Atia Abawi, who is embedded with U.S. Marines in and around Marjah in southern Afghanistan. "The Taliban are putting up quite a resistance.""
Once the invaders have calculated the cost and time (~4 months for full control at Marjah) expanded to take over a tiny village of 80,000 souls defended by some 400 Taliban and apply this to hundreds of similar villages they will need to conquer by mid-2011, they will realize that the task is impossible: they have already LOST!...
Besides, even if Marjah is taken, the Taliban will be back in control there in less than a year, as the puppet governor won't last long...
It's a race against time and the Taliban is prepared to resist for as long as it takes: in 10 years from now, they would still be there fighting, except that public opinion in the invading countries will ensure a RETREAT by the end of 2011...
In addition, every civilian killed is a nail in the coffin of the invaders that will speed up the retreat...

I'm sure there are some super-patriotic people fighting but it's clear that a lot of Taliban have been bought off. Trust me, NATO is going to win this battle. They bought their victory.
I don't know the extent of the bribery though. They'll probably get shelled all over afghanistan.
